This January, it has been announced that Peter Johnson, Chairman of DS Smith Plc, has retired. The Board had been planning his retirement in 2012 for some time. Peter joined the Board in 1999 as a non-Executive Director, taking the helm as Chairman in 2007.

St Regis wins on appeal

DS Smith Group continues strong momentum into 2011/12

On 23rd June 2011, DS Smith Paper’s parent company, DS Smith Plc, announced a significant improvement in year on year revenue and profits in its full year results. Revenue rose from £2070.6m in 2009/10 to £2474.5m in 2010/11. Profit before tax went up from £55.0m in 2009/10 to £102.2m in 2010/11.

Production of white top test liners proposed to move to Kemsley Mill

Following a strategic review, DS Smith Paper has started a consultation process in relation to the future of Hollins Mill. The proposal involves closing Hollins Mill in the second half of 2012 and investing in the manufacture of high quality presentation liners at Kemsley Mill.

A new era has begun for the UK¹s leading papermaker. From 1st June St Regis will be known as DS Smith Paper Ltd. Other companies within the DS Smith group have also changed their names to come in line with the corporate brand including Severnside, which is now DS Smith Recycling.
